COMPUTER SERVICES

This division provides data processing management and Information Technology support for all computerised systems within the Council.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH

This division looks after public and occupational health and safety, food and pollution control, pest control, house renovation, energy efficiency and disabled facilities, grants, dog control, certain licensing functions (relating to animal welfare establishments), as well as refuse collection, amenity cleaning, cesspool emptying and the promotion of recycling activities.

FINANCIAL RESOURCES & LOCAL TAXATION

This division deals with the collection of Council Tax and National Non-Domestic Rates, administration of Housing and Council Tax Benefit and the recovery of money owed to the Council.

LEISURE SERVICES

This division promotes and manages many leisure and recreational activities and schemes - including sports centres, swimming pools and parks. It also provides grounds maintenance and horticultural services. The division is responsible for countryside recreation, entertainment and the arts in North Warwickshire, together with play areas, play schemes and other community recreation initiatives.

PLANNING

Planning officers provide free advice on the need for planning applications and they also deal with planning policy and promote conservation and environmental improvements. The economic development service is also based in the Planning Division and deals with economic development issues in the Borough, including tourism.
Officers in the Building Control section provide advice on the requirements of Building Regulation, offer a plan checking service and carry our site inspection in line with statutory requirements.

TECHNICAL SERVICES/NORTH WARWICKSHIRE SERVICES

The Technical Services division deals with architecture and civil engineering. A major part of the engineering section's work is a sewerage agency agreement with Severn Trent Water. The division also maintains public buildings, manages the Council's fleet of vehicles, maintains car parks, deals with road naming and manages Atherstone Market. "North Warwickshire Services" is the name of the Council's direct labour organisation, which is run as a separate unit within the Council and carries out work arranged by other departments - such as council house maintenance, grounds maintenance, refuse collection and street sweeping.
